The efforts to enhance vocational and technical education in the defense industry, led by the Presidency of Defense Industry (SSB) and the Ministry of National Education (MEB), are ongoing. Following the signing of the Vocational and Technical Education Development Cooperation Protocol by Minister of National Education Ziya Selçuk and President of the Presidency of Defense Industry Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir in February, leading defense industry companies are also initiating projects to further develop this cooperation in their respective fields.
Turkish Aerospace Industries (TUSAŞ) and the Ministry of National Education's Directorate General of Vocational and Technical Education have signed a Vocational Education Cooperation Protocol. The agreement was signed by TUSAŞ General Manager Prof. Dr. Temel Kotil, Director General of Technical Education Prof. Dr. Kemal Varın Numanoğlu, and TUSAŞ Board Member Adnan Çelik. As part of this protocol, the name of Şehit Hakan Gülşen Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School in Kızılcahamam, Ankara, will be changed to TUSAŞ Şehit Hakan Gülşen Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School. Through this partnership, TUSAŞ will train technicians who will be involved in the production of the National Combat Aircraft (MMU) and the Heavy Class Attack Helicopter.
The existing “Aircraft Maintenance Area” curriculum will be updated to address the production and maintenance of aerospace vehicles in line with the defense industry’s needs. Additionally, programs focusing on “Aerospace Vehicle Technology” and “Production and Maintenance Branch” will be introduced.
Students of TUSAŞ Şehit Hakan Gülşen Vocational and Technical Anatolian High School will be offered internship opportunities at TUSAŞ. The school’s laboratories and workshop infrastructure will receive support from TUSAŞ, and educational activities will be designed to meet the company’s needs. Students who meet success criteria will receive scholarships from TUSAŞ, and graduates who are deemed suitable by the company will be employed. This cooperation will help produce the technicians needed to build the MMU and Heavy Class Attack Helicopter. Moreover, TUSAŞ will provide scholarships to graduates of this school who are accepted into research universities’ defense industry-related departments.
