As part of the program, 109 T70 Utility Helicopters will be developed in Türkiye based on Sikorsky Aircraft's S70i Helicopter through licensed production by Turkish Aerospace, the prime contractor, and Sikorsky, Aselsan, TEI, and Alp Aviation, the subcontractors. These helicopters will be delivered to six different users: Land Forces Command, Air Forces Command, Special Forces Command, Gendarmerie General Command, General Directorate of Security, and General Directorate of Forestry. By the end of 2023, 14 helicopters were delivered to the relevant users.
Under the program, the prime contractor Turkish Aerospace will carry out the production, final assembly, testing, and integrated logistics support of all main components, including the cabin, cockpit, tail cone, horizontal and vertical tails, main and tail rotor blades of the T70 helicopters. Aselsan will be responsible for the development and integration of the main avionics and the development of the helicopter cockpit (IMAS) in collaboration with Sikorsky. TEI will manage the production of the T700 engine, and Alp Aviation will be responsible for the production and assembly of the landing gear, gearbox detail parts, and dynamic parts.
The Turkish Utility Helicopter Program aims to meet Türkiye's demand for utility helicopters, with the Turkish industry playing a crucial role in addressing both military and civilian needs domestically.
